Delete your Orbital account

This page is for Orbital, the personal contact-tracking app published by Contemplation Inc. It explains how to delete your account and everything recorded in it, from inside the app or by writing to us.

Cancel your subscription first

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Subscriptions are billed by the App Store or Google Play, and those are the only places they can be cancelled. If you delete your account without cancelling, the subscription keeps renewing.

On an iPhone or iPad: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, then Orbital. On Android: the Google Play app, your profile picture, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, then Orbital. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the current period, and refunds are handled by the store you bought from.

Export a copy if you want one

Deletion is permanent and there is no undo. In the app, Settings, then Data, then Export everything gives you a complete copy as JSON plus spreadsheet files. Export keeps working even when a subscription has lapsed.

Deleting from inside the app

Settings, then Account, then Delete account. You will be asked to confirm by typing, because there is no way back from it.

Deleting if you no longer have the app

Write to hello@orbitalrelations.com from the email address on your account, with the subject line Delete my account. You do not need to reinstall Orbital and you do not need an active subscription.

We will confirm the request, delete the account, and write back when it is done. We aim to complete deletions within seven days, and we may need to verify that the address is yours before we act on it.

What deletion removes

Everything attached to the account, on our servers and on every device you have signed in on:

• Your account itself, and the email address and password hash behind it
• Every person you added, and the folders you filed them in
• Notes, open threads, important dates and cadences
• Every reach-out you logged, with its date, method and what you talked about
• Your settings, including reminder times

Account deletion is a real deletion rather than a record marked deleted, which is the difference between it and deleting a single person inside the app. Our privacy policy explains that distinction under "How long we keep it", along with how long database backups are retained before they age out on their own.

Purchase records held by Apple or Google are theirs and are not ours to delete. If you want those removed, ask the store you bought from.
